Solar Navigation Light Upgrade

The Tuscaloosa By-Pass and Montgomery Expressway bridges have received upgrades navigation lighting. The existing fixtures were scheduled for replacement in 2021. The project included new surface striping and installation of reflective delineators on the bridges. Additionally, the traditional streetlights were removed from the bridges.
In accordance with American Roads’ commitment to reducing its energy dependency, the new fixtures are solar powered LED lights. These areas of Alabama receive an average of over 3,000 hours of sunlight each year making them perfect locations for solar powered equipment.
